Thanks Meera, I think that the film is worth seeing for the four lead actors. As a filmmaker, I hope that you would be concerned about the script and narrative structure.

I agree it would be better to have seen the development you describe – and that is one of the flaws of the script. A ‘best friend’ like this is however also a convention of romcoms. It is just as conceivable that Aditi and Naina were friends on the trekking holiday who lost contact later. A more interesting script would have found a different way of bringing the four back together (and not abandoning Avi) without having Naina go through that awful speech. This a successful conventional film but that shouldn’t mean a poorly thought through script.

I agree that Kalki Koechlin’s incredible talent wasn’t fully utilized in this film. I’d have liked to see some of the development of Naina’s friendship with Aditi over the years, rather than Naina just proclaiming their BFF status during a wedding toast. Cheers.

This is on my watch-list, however I was cautious with it falling into the ‘Conventional’ trap. I read/heard a mixed reaction, so I guess its one of those indecisive films. Very nice review!
