I’ve sort of retired & don’t do much teaching now, but I’m still following The Case for Global Film & this book site very keenly, & have just seen your MEA message “Please visit the site and leave suggestions as to the films/topics you would like to see covered”. How about some more Dardenne Bros -there’s nothing about them in the book & only The Kid with a Bike here- maybe The Silence of Lorna, or Rosetta, & your Bradford talk on Two Days One Night. Also maybe The Edukators is due for a revival (to go with Night Moves), & also my last AL classes liked Head On & The Edge of Heaven…
Good to hear from you. These are good points. There is actually a posting on The Silence of Lorna on this blog and I’m in the process of uploading a substantial piece on the Dardennes (including the notes from the Bradford intro). It should be up later this week. I did think about The Edukators when I was watching Night Moves. I will go back and look at my itp stuff on the film. Both the Fatih Akin titles you mention are on both blogs (and can be found via the ‘Search’ facility or in the Turkish Cinema category). I’m not sure if the new Fatih Akin film will get a release – the last one didn’t. If it does I will definitely go to see it.
I hope you are enjoying your ‘sort of’ retirement – I know what you mean.
Hi Roy. This is Badewa Ajibade, an intern at a small film production company in Toronto. We will be screening a film, Dante at the Columbus centre, 901 Lawrence Avenue W, Toronto and would like to send you a press release so you can help create some awareness about our film on your blog. A screener could also be made available for you should you wish so you can have reviews of the film on your blog as well. Please do not hesitate to contact me if this is something that you may be interested in and I’ll put you in touch with the producer. Thank you
Thanks. I’ll send you a private email. I’m always interested in the possibility of promoting films if it seems worthwhile and fits the aims the aims of the blog.
On behalf of Culture.pl, an online magazine promoting Polish culture abroad, run by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute I would like to recommend to your attention our latest article about “Ashes and Diamonds” film: http://culture.pl/en/article/discover-polish-cinema-with-dave-ashes-and-diamonds
I think that you and your followers may find it interesting. If you also think so, I would be grateful if you could share it on your website and social media sites. I also recommend you our full resources library dedicated to polish film: http://culture.pl/en/category/film-0
Thanks Magda. It does indeed look like a useful resource and I will see what I can do to publicise it.
Great, thanks a lot!

Hi, I work with Mahla Filmes (www.mahlafilmes.com), a Mozambican production company. In a couple of months we’ll start shooting an independent feature in the city of Maputo. It’s our first feature film. We will soon launch a crowd funding campaign to support the film. We’d love to know if Global Film Studies would be interested in knowing more about the campaign and the film and perhaps help us spread the word? We have filmed a film trailer for the campaign – which will be made available on Indiegogo and social media once the campaign launches officially. This is a first approach, we are open to any suggestions / guidelines you might have, should you find the idea interesting. We’d love to share more information about the film and us, Mahla Filmes. Thank you! Khanimambo! 🙂 Maura
A private email has been sent – we hope to include info on this film when it becomes available.
